Selena Alvarez, a proud Deaf, Fat, Queer, Latinx Woman, was born in Berkeley, California, but has roots all over the country. After moving from coast to coast, she considers herself a student of life, ever-changing, fast-paced and thriving. Her influences come from her loving Momma who nurtured her into the vibrant artist she is today. She overcomes oppression in a multitude of forms—like audism, sexism, heteronormativity, and poverty—by portraying her pain and her glory through her paintings. Her voice is expressed through her hands by day and her paintbrush by night.
