Leah Bornstein

Leah Bornstein is an ASL teacher, an artist, and an animal lover who lives (and cuddles) with two dogs, as well as a paint quarter horse and two cats. Identifying as Deaf, bisexual and proud, Bornstein’s piece chooses to fingerspell the word “pride” because it is her belief that being a proud member of the LGBTQ+ Deaf community is so much more than the sign for “pride.” The rainbow symbolizes the community; the hearts show the importance of vitality and self love; the flowers symbolize growth and transition; and the sun brings warmth and light to all, as the LBGTQ+ community brings to the world.
