The Language of Sacrifice

Acrylic on canvas

A distorted body standing on a gray grid-like ground with a horizon in hues of yellows melting into dark blues depicting a sunset. A large head is bowing atop small spidery legs, and being held by a hand covering its face. The head wears a crown of dandelions with sweat and tears dripping. The oversized left hand extends outwards with streams of blood sprouting from its fingertips into a golden cracked chalice on the ground. The chalice is overflowing with dark blood flowing into a hole on the ground. In the pool of blood around the chalice is a white rose lying. In the distance is a tree, split in the middle and on fire with smoke billowing into puffs above. Bees circle around the head in the air.
