    <dcterms:abstract><![CDATA[ My hard working hands tell my story. Like a mountain,the sign for standing up peaks above the tattoo, “Still I Rise” from Maya Angelou’s poem. There are two different skin tones that were caused by my genetic Waardenburg Syndrome that also caused me to be Deaf. The scar on my left arm resulted  from the physical rigors of  living on a farm. I learned that whenever I was hurt, physically, mentally or spiritually, it’s okay to fall down and get back up.  “Rise”  Like a mountain,the sign for standing up peaks above the tattoo, “Still I Rise” from Maya Angelou’s poem. The hand is disconnected from the vision of total communication, total access, because she is required to speak using her mouth as a means of communicating.  Colleen was bent on seeing equal access being granted to the Deaf community.  It made her angry when she witnessed injustice because a Deaf person was not given the same rights as a hearing person.]]></dcterms:abstract>
