Abstract
A summary of the resource.
“Floating in the mid-air, an AF Dance Theater's ballet dancer's limb stretches out during a performance of “River” in the Elstad Auditorium at Gallaudet University. A ballet dancer looks like he is almost ready to take to the sky.
This photo inspires me with awe and a desire to describe what I feel and what I think about this unique photo. This photo is to show you the visitation of a heavenly angel, appearing to you in a dream by night. A strange angel joyfully makes a dramatic acrobatic move and leaps beautifully in the mid-air. The appearance of the angel is bright like the burning charcoal of fire. The angel gives a comfort to the suffering of a woman as he makes the darkness light.” – Andrew Robertson

Abstract
A summary of the resource.
Silver had the idea for a non-ASL version of this piece when she was still in high school. In 1996, she converted it into a bilingual version of QUEERLLOGG’S FLAKES. It should be noted, however, that QUEERLLOGG’S REVISITED was revised in 2018 to accurately reflect the ASL sign for transgender as illustrated on the TRANS cereal box. From a historical standpoint, sign language in
art does evolve over time.

Abstract
A summary of the resource.
The pink triangle was originally a Nazi concentration camp
signifier for gay men. In the late 1970s, it began its life as a symbol of gay pride; now it is a common identifier of the
LGBTQ rights movement. Because the LGBTQ community
has a much higher percentage of people who are bilingual,
Silver chose not to interpret the ASL word GAY into English. To someone who can’t fingerspell and doesn’t know anything about the LGBTQ community, this sign means DEAF & PROUD — but to those in the know, it shows Deaf gay pride.

Abstract
A summary of the resource.
Betty G. Miller, who signed many of her later paintings “Bettigee,” was a lesbian at a time when it was not just unaccepted, but illegal. Despite knowing since childhood that she was attracted to women, Miller did almost no artwork expressing her feelings or experience with being
gay. Instead, she is best known for expressing her deaf experience. The second half of the 20th Century was a period of transition in which society became more accepting of homosexuality, and Betty began to relax and feel more free. She had a "commitment ceremony" in February 1988 with Nancy Creighton when gay weddings were not yet legal. She died in December 2012, just a few months before same-sex marriage became legal in America.

Abstract
A summary of the resource.
Whenever I took an art class, I would test people’s reactions to my artwork focused on female images. I produced my first piece of art when I was a senior in high school in Madison, Wisconsin, in the mid-nineties.I took a metal art class. This was my first and last metal art class. Once I was way behind with my artwork so I brought home the copper metal of woman to saw at home. My mom saw the copper part of the woman, and she got so furious and forbade me to bring home anything like that. That was one more thing on my list of identities that I could not discuss with my mom. So I had to stay in the art room during lunchtime to finish up with my project. Lucky that I still have those pieces.

Abstract
A summary of the resource.
The sketch is one of Bruce’s earliest works of art- his creativity and thirst for knowledge of theatre started in his attic. The drawing includes a hidden symbol, unconsciously reflecting his gay identity—an expansion on “coming out of the closet” and “skeleton in the closet” concepts. The sketch shows an attic full of life and memorabilia symbolizing a traditional life, and the viewer will be shocked to see a hanging skeleton amidst the usual attic items.
