Late Summer

The days may be shortening, but the sun's still warm. Yet, you know that summer is coming to an end, and winter is on the horizon. Floating in a forest pond, watching the sunset from an Adirondack chair, or seeing the change in the light shining on desert mountains, you feel the coming change of the seasons in your bones, as natural as breathing or eating. The summer has felt endless, but it's later than you think.
