Abstract

This artwork was created over many visits to a maximum security prison. At the end of our monthly workshops there - we would often have left over paint on paper plates so we began painting these 4 panels of a tree in different seasons. Trees are a strong motif that came up in a lot of our workshops with the Deaf men in prison. At one point when working on another project of a tree - the guys asked the newest person to describe what trees and leaves look like on the outside so they could do a good representation. It had been a long time for some of them without seeing trees or fully experiencing the seasons.
