Top Surgery

Abstract

There is a person signing the ASL sign for “Surgery” over their top surgery scar. As the thumb passes over the scar, ferns leaves spill out to represent the beginnings of a new life. Ferns often grow where previous plants or life die. I felt a whole new sense of confidence after my top surgery. That my new body actually matched how I saw myself.
