Silent Premonition

Abstract

An ear cochlea in the process of defoliating – like a leaf separating from a tree, pictured in one of the panels of this intuitive piece. I created only a few months before experiencing Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss(SSHL). On August 4, 2017, I woke up to a feeling of uneasiness, numbness in my head, and 100% deafness in my right ear. Only a few days before this terrible experience, I had put on the final touches to an untitled painting, a painting I can now call Silent Premonition. Besides a cochlea, you can also see tears, wide-open eyes staring directly at the viewer as if they were in disbelief, and a moon watching over countless sleepless nights in anguish and pain. I painted a cochlea in the painting's right panel as if I subconsciously knew about the imminent silence was coming. This artwork predicted the beautiful chaos and uncertainty that opened the door to a new path, a new life dedicated to hearing loss advocacy.
